Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do the Friends raise money?
A: The Friends of the Hollis Social Library do the bulk of our fundraising in four ways:
Q: With what special purchases and projects have the Friends helped the library in the past, and are there any more coming up in the near future?
A: The Friends of the Hollis Social Library have helped the library purchase iPads, computers, an LED screen, a projection screen, furniture, study carrels, coding kits, craft kits, STEM kits, and more! We have also contributed to costs associated with the library's expansion, as well as updates to the children's and young adult areas. We are currently in the process of helping the library to update its bathroom doors to be more ADA-compliant, and pending the results of an upcoming community survey about what changes people would like to see in the library, there will certainly be many more!
Q: How did the Friends come into existence?
A: The Friends of the Hollis Social Library was established in 1988 to help the library fund a much needed physical expansion, as well as expansions of its programming and offerings. We are humbled by all that has been accomplished over the past 35 years as a result of the continuous support of this generous community, and we very much look forward to a future of helping the Hollis Social Library remain the bright star it has always been in the town of Hollis!
